About This Game
Scala 40 captures the strategic depth of Italian card games in a digital format where players race to meld their hand before opponents. The objective is to form valid combinations - sets of same-rank cards or runs of sequential cards in the same suit - until you reach the 40-point threshold required to lay down. Each turn breaks into draw and discard phases where you improve your hand while denying opponents useful cards. The presence of jokers adds flexibility, allowing them to substitute for missing cards in combinations. Multiplayer formats test your ability to read opponents' discards and anticipate their combinations while protecting your own hand development.
How to Play
On each turn, click to draw either from the deck or the discard pile - choosing wisely affects your options. Study your hand and build toward valid combinations: sets are three or more cards of the same rank, while runs are three or more sequential cards in the same suit. You need at least 40 points in valid combinations before you can meld and lay them down. Once you've melded, you can add cards to existing combinations on the table. Discard one card at the end of your turn, preferably something opponents cannot easily use. Watch what opponents draw and discard to guess their combinations and deny them useful cards. The first player to play all their cards wins the round.
